Don Stover was an American bluegrass musician who played 5-string banjo, recording solo and with the Lilly Brothers, Bill Monroe, The White Oak Mountain Boys, and others. He was born on March 6th, 1928 in West Virginia and died on November 11th, 1996 in Maryland at the age of 68. He credits his mother's banjo playing with inspiring him to learn the instrument, and he transitioned from the clawhammer style to "Scruggs-style" after hearing the three-finger style played on the Opry.
