Wikipirate

[edit]

Lordy.

I don't think I've ever inspired a song before. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 18:02, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Wikiholic

[edit]

Well, I finally took the test.

4360: "You are editing too much! It's recommended that you get a real life for the time being."

Might have a point there. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 18:03, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

"Nothing is forgotten. Nothing is ever forgotten."

[edit]

This was a trying day. Vandalism to some of the less popular television pages, only I spotted it. Went through the usual forms, patiently warned, eventually had to report. First admin on the case less than helpful ("I don't see how this is vandalism. Have you even tried talking to the IP?").

Eventually sorted with the aid of one of the science spods. I'm guessing the other guy was an arts graduate. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 19:23, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Stubble

[edit]

Among SuggestBot's latest recommendation is develop this stub: City of Death.

That's a big stub. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 18:50, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Filk

[edit]

Ok, new amendment: stay away from BLP's and the filk crowd (they have claws). --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 16:07, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey, hey, hey!

[edit]

I come back from Wikibreak and there's a Fat Albert poster on WP:BOLD.

There's nothing I can add to that. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 09:16, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Up the hill, down the mountain

[edit]

Had too much twp in my face, recently. Think I'm due a Wikibreak, soon.

--Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 22:21, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

King of Hits

[edit]

I should never have involved myself in a BLP.

I've been more harmful than helpful. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 20:09, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Ultravox

[edit]

Today, this, more than any other day, seems appropriate.

Dear <insert chosen deity>,
Please help me find the strength in my mind, body, and soul,
To carry on,
Even though there really aren't any rewards to this,
And I can think of many things
I really should be doing now;
Let me find it in myself
To finish <insert name of wikipage>,
Even though the odds are slim that anyone will read it,
And it is so obscure that it may be cast wantonly to the AfD;
Let it be known that I tried,
And that in any case, this puts me one edit closer
To the exalted heights of
Top 1000 Most Active Wikipedians.
This we ask of you, <insert chosen deity>,
[Amen is optional]

--Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 09:41, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Gah

[edit]

Y'know, I can't help but think the ability to upload images ought to be rationed, in the same manner, say, that administrative tools are. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 16:33, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Nards

[edit]

Quite literally, the best category ever: Category:Fictional balls.

You couldn't make this stuff up. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 13:38, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Thunderpants

[edit]

So, it's goodbye to Bruce Cook.[1]

Wherever you are, sleep soundly knowing you won't be libelled 15 times a day. Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 20:22, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

The toad work

[edit]

Over 40 edits in one day: that can't be a good sign. Mark H Wilkinson 22:25, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Eigenstates

[edit]

I don't seem to be terribly good at Wikibreaks.

Yay me

[edit]

"Notability, the relevant article informs me, is not a temporary commodity. We do not serve the community by including flash in the pan stories."

This is possibly the most pompous looking sentence I've seen on a talk page.

And I'm the bugger that wrote it.[2]

Jon Pertwee's cloak

[edit]

"I love humans. The way they see patterns in things that aren't there." - The Doctor

Of course, you know he was talking about continuity and outside references.

Note to self

[edit]

Never get involved where feelings are running high.

Dock of the bay

[edit]

The best thing about NightWikipedia: going to bed knowing you tried.

Rain Man

[edit]

Just seen this:

{{Macra television stories}}

Words fail me.

What is it good for?

[edit]

I seem to have been involved in an edit war. And didn't notice it at the time. Lawks.

Look at the shouty man!

[edit]

It appears to be gratuitous capitalisation day on Wikipedia. I always like to see people masterfully RAM their points HOME in such a FORCEFUL way.

The best things in life are free

[edit]

Free content: such passion in a debate over the inclusion of an image! It's like LiveJournal without the hormonal issues.

Hoist the colours!

[edit]

A new low in vandalism: white text introduced into a number of pages. Don't these monkeys realise we get to see the actual code inserted to a page? Still, the fact one of the articles targeted was Hidden text was worth a smile.

Fascism

[edit]

You know, if you'd asked me a couple of weeks ago, I would've said it unlikely Talk Page discussion might see someone called a fascist unless it were on one of the more politicised articles. But no -- trying to implement WP:WAF can prompt that too.

Maths

[edit]

My ever so slight contribution to the article on Goldbach's_conjecture received warm words. So, despite my reluctance to get sucked into the drier end of Wikipedia (I prefer working with maths students on their difficulties to writing about the subject), I put it on my watchlist. And thus managed to witness some "hilarious" fecker's vandalism -- changing the plus signs to minuses and adding the word "turds". It'd been reverted by the time I checked on the page's history, so no real problem; but still, I can't help thinking an article on number theory ought to attract a better class of vandal.

Drama

[edit]

For the first time, I tried involving myself with and monitoring the editing of a Doctor Who episode article during it's "flash point" -- that hurried, feverish activity which occurs around the episode's broadcast. My God, the drama! I don't know whether it was typical, but I'm not sure I'm in any hurry to spend quite so much time on Wikipedia next weekend. We'll see.
