I am a ghost hunter from Guatemala, searching for the true story of La Larona. If you have any information or have seen her in person, please contact me. My family and I had a personal experience with her in our hotel room in Tanque de la Unión. She was slamming and opening our doors but it doesn't feel real. Many locals have said they have had experiences as far away as San Bartolome Milpas Altas. Have you seen her?

Here is the background of our work to date: The story of La Llorona is a well-known Guatemalan ghost story about a woman in a white dress who walks the streets crying and searching for her children:

The story La Llorona, which translates to "the crier" or "the crying woman", is said to have lost her youngest child while at a soccer match. The boy was playing with his toy cars when one rolled into the street. The boy was hit by a car and did not recover. In anguish, her soul is doomed to wander the streets forever, searching for her child who was struck by the car.

People who hear her cry are said to suffer misfortune or even death.

Where to find her

La Llorona is said to appear near rivers, fountains, or pilas. Some say she most often appears at the Tanque de la Unión, where she will slowly disappear into the darkness.

What to expect

People who encounter La Llorona may experience a sudden, intense cry, a crawling feeling on their skin, and heavy feet.
