About Me
[edit]I live and work as an administrator and educator in central California, working in a diverse and international academic community exploring current and emerging digital tools, practices, and spaces. I'm an ESL teacher by training and a technologist by accident, inspired by a call to humanize learning and our digital environments.
Paid Work
[edit]I don't do any paid work on Wikipedia and am not paid to edit any articles. My job duties do not require me to edit Wikipedia and I do not receive any grant funding to do editing work on Wikipedia. I am participating with a number of colleagues in a project that aims to build the digital fluencies of students and faculty by understanding the complex information environments we navigate on a daily basis. Developing my knowledge and skills to research and edit Wikipedia articles serves this critical educational purpose, which is sometimes done on work hours.
Newspapers on Wikipedia Project
[edit]
|
The Newspapers on Wikipedia Project was initiated by user:Michaelacaulfield to improve the coverage of historic local newspapers in Wikipedia. Documenting our news sources on Wikipedia is one of the best ways to help readers determine whether a source is real or fake. Verifying a news source by checking for a Wikipedia can serve as an important step in determining its legitimacy. Documenting newspapers is also important to the historical integrity of information on Wikipedia internally, since many claims are sourced to local news sources, and Wikipedia editors require context on the nature of the publication the material appears in. Ultimately, the Newspapers on Wikipedia (NOW) project [1] will help to improve the quality and reliability of local news sources, particularly historic newspapers.
