Moulton Hall
[edit]Located in Bloomington Illinois, at the Illinois State University, Moulton Hall is currently designated as the Department of Physics. In this department resides several classes of different hundred level for physics and non-physics majors. Also residing within Moulton Hall is The Registrar's Office. The Registrar’s Office consists of: the Registrar Service Center, Veterans Services, Academic Records & Evaluation Services, and Transcripts and Verifications. Academic Scheduling and the Department of Physics are also housed in this building.

[edit]Moulton Hall is located directly next to Felmley Hall on S. School St., on the northeast end of the quad, at the Illinois State University in Bloomington Illinois.
History
[edit]Build in 1920, Moulton Hall was named after a University founder, Samuel Moulton. However, Moulton Hall 1920 did not start out as the physics department at Illinois State University as it is seen today. It started out as the Thomas Metcalf Laboratory School, for teachers and classes, kindergarten through the 12 grade. In the time of the Civil War, Samuel Moulton had to take out a mortgage on his own property to keep the University going. He had great pride in the University and knew of the great things and achievements it could achieve and become.

[edit]Samuel Moulton was a University founder at Illinois State University and a congressman. Born on January 20, 1821, in Wenham, Massachusetts, Moulton was brought into a lineage with his family being one of old Massachusetts stock. Moulton had fairly close relation with one of the former president, Abraham Lincoln. As Moulton went on to further his education and his career, he became president of the Illinois State University Board of Education in 1859.
