[edit]My hobbies include cooking with my wife, Ultimate, Hiking, Nutrition and researching recipes. Although anecdotal, there are many that believe that just being in nature will reduce stress levels, further supporting the claims that hiking is great for your health.[1] Ultimate has a core principle called Spirit of the Game™ that promotes sportsmanship and competition with equal emphasis. [2] My wife and I love to cook together. We will locate recipes online and then decide to make them together. She preps the veggies and I handle the meat and the hot portion. We do, on occasion, switch roles as needed. Sometimes she knows a technique I do not and vice versa so we are both flexible in the kitchen.
My Wikipedia Interests
[edit]I would like to contribute in the realm of nutrition. I have a genuine passion for cooking along with healing through food. I believe that there is a wealth of information and misinformation in regards to food and the power it holds over our health. I am also particularly interested in pages regarding shows and books that I follow. Never in my life have I considered being a Wikipedia contributor and I feel that this is a good time for me to begin my journey. I look forward to what will come.
Article Evaluation
[edit]My wife’s family owns a family home down in Ocean Shores, WA that we visit frequently. I have become very interested in the nice town. I have gathered a good amount of the history just from walking around town and from our family down there. In order to learn more I visited the Ocean Shores, Washington article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: lack of citations, outdated information, and a lack of information regarding some of the categories.
I noticed in the first section regarding the history of Ocean Shores there is a lot of information but no links to credible sources. There are several links to other Wikipedia articles but no other citations. There are a few dead links as well.
Next up there is weather data that was last updated in 2011 and the census data does not include information from the 2020 census. Having updated census information along with updated weather data would provide a better picture of the history of Ocean Shores.
Finally the latter categories are lacking in information. The name of the school district that serves Ocean Shores is listed but the link is a dead link to a wiki page. The school district that serves Ocean Shores is North Beach school district. Having more information about the schools and their values would enhance this articles credibility as well.
I would say that this page is “okay” overall. It does a good job of providing a high level overview of the town and does provide some interesting information. There are some outdated resources that would be helpful to have updated. I would also like to see more information about the education system along with other infrastructure. There is also a large lack of citations present within the article that detract from its credibility.
