Philip's foreign policy

In August 1556, mobs of Calvinists desecrated churches and smashed images in all the key cities of the Netherlands. Philip sent the Duke of Alva with 10,000 troops to the Netherlands in 1567. William of Orange fled, and 1000 people were executed. The English were severely intimidated by the Spanish occupation, as it was important strategically and for trade, and Anglo-Spanish relations were at breaking point by 1568, especially after Sir John hawkins attacked Spanish shipping off the coast of Mexico in September 1568. In the following November, Elizabeth seized two ships carrying the armies' pay. Philip, however, was precoccupied with his son, Don Carlos, who had gone mad, and his wife's death. And then the Moriscos revolted.

- it is readily available on the web at the official website, specifically for promotional purposes.
- it does not limit the copyright owners rights to sell the product in any way
- the image is provided at several official sources
- it allows for identification of the character: Andrew Van De Kamp;
- it is a low resolution image,
- there are no public domain or free images that serve the same purpose,
- it illustrates the point in question.
