History of Dannyville
[edit]In Hoover, AL during the SEC Baseball Tournament [[1]] (Home of the the country's best collegiate baseball[1]) at "The MET" (now Regions Park [[2]]) there is a tailgate area behind the stadium by the trees. It's been affectionately named Dannyville after Danny Wyatt. Danny Wyatt, an Alabama fan and lifelong griller, has been frequenting the tailgate area for almost as long as the SEC tournament has been played there. For the last 3 years, fans of college baseball, and foreign tourists have made sure to spend time there while on the yearly pilgrimage to watch the top 8 SEC teams battle it out for a top seed in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.

Mayor of Dannyville - Danny Wyatt
[edit]Danny Wyatt is 5'8", 165 lbs, and runs Dannyville during the tournament week. His wife, Rosemary, is a local teacher. Mayor Wyatt also has three children. His successor, McDaniel Wyatt, is a student at Louisiana State University. Mayor Wyatt picks up trash and shares a brew with anyone and everyone. His beer of choice is Budweiser which he only drinks out of his signature red cup manufactured by the Solo Cup Company which he doubles up on because he, "likes the insulation."
Mayor Wyatt rarely attends games. However, during game time, you'll find him listening to J.J. Cale, dancing, and grilling sausages with natural casing becasue "It's better that way".
Because Mayor Wyatt is such an avid griller, he makes daily runs to Publix to pick up choice meats. He also grills his buns.

Stories of Dannyville
[edit]During the summer of 2008, patrons of Dannyville began to notice Mayor Wyatt's uncanny ability to sneak into the background of the camera frame of almost every picture taken. He was always holding a red solo cup
Greg Marshall met, and then dated, a domineering succubus named Valerie. Her Father actually makes moonshine. When we went to her apartment in downtown Birmingham the night ended with part of the city council asking Greg if he would return with them. Before Greg could answer, Valerie did. Greg stayed. A few months later, Greg broke up with her and didn't have the heart to tell his friend who had warned him against dating girls from the SEC Baseball Tournament because of an experience in a previous year.
The sun was setting and an eerie calm had settled over the near empty parking lot of the Hoover Met. Hours earlier, the Tigers of LSU had defeated the Ole Miss Rebels to claim the 2008 SEC Baseball Tournament Championship. Most fans, workers, and even parking lot attendants had left the scene. However, in Dannyville, the party was going strong. The Budweiser was still flowing with regularity, "Slow Dixie" blared from car speakers, and of course, the smells of Danny's famous grill wafted through the air. On this perfect Sunday night, a classic street baseball game was about to unfold in the vast Hoover Met parking lot. In one dugout/pick-up truck bed, the City Council of Dannyville, aided by city workers Adam Forrester and Matt Wade. In the other dugout/truck bed was the youth of Dannyville, a collection of 7, 8, and 9 year olds. Armed with beer in one hand and bats in the other, the City Council set out to defend their reputation. The game was an intense one, filled with jaw dropping plays and heroics Blake Dean could only dream of. Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS had nothing on this battle. From the opening pitch, the City Council set out to dominate, they did not take the game lightly, they were out for blood. Intimidation was the strategy in the early inniings. Ground ball outs were recorded not by routinely throwing to first base, but by pegging the opposition with all of their might. If one of the members of the youth team reached base safely, he was assured of a high and tight fastball his next at bat. At the plate, the City Council members pounded out hit after hit, many of them flying, bouncing, and rolling far into the vast expanse of the parking lot, providing for inside the park homeruns time and time again (after the batter stopped at second base to crack open a new Budweiser, of course). The game was a blowout, the City Council had reminded its young citizens of their rightful place. In the top of the 9th, with a beer in place of a glove a buffet of grilled meats and toasted buns waiting in the clubhouse, closer Greg "peg leg" Marshall slammed the door on the 15-run victory by striking out the side. The celebration was on, a victory lap around the Met ensued.
