About me

[edit]

I am a Wikipedian who lives in the Deschutes River Basin, Oregon, USA.

Skills & Expertise

[edit]

I am a semi-retired ecologist, with experience in both plant and animal ecology and conservation. I have a strong interest in natural history of Oregon's arid regions. I also have extensive experience in ecological simulation, statistics, and programming.

Potential bias and conflicts

[edit]

In light of Wikipedia's WP:COI guideline, I disclose the following:

  • I fully support Wikipedia's aims of building a neutral, well-sourced free encyclopedia, and strive to avoid any bias in my contributions.
  • I do not and will not accept compensation for writing or editing Wikipedia content.
  • Potential paid employment conflicts:
    • U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration: I was employed by the National Marine Fisheries Service for over 24 years (retired 2016), where I worked primarily in salmon ecology and conservation, including research, regulatory and policy aspects. I will not contribute directly to articles relating to this work, other than minor factual information in areas of my expertise.
    • Columbia River Independent Science Advisory Board (ISAB): I am (at this time, 2021) a paid member of the ISAB, and will not contribute directly to any articles related to subjects of this work.
  • Other involvements:
    • Deschutes Land Trust: I support and do some volunteer work (ca. 50-100 hours per year) for the Deschutes Land Trust, mainly in their educational hikes program and assisting with natural resource surveys. I have contributed articles and edits about the Trust and its preserves and have received assistance from Trust staff in assembling facts for those articles, but I maintain fully independent control of my contributions.
