Hurricane Mep'lak, also known as Typhoon Mep'lak, Typhoon Pablo, and Cyclone Mep'lak was a Cape Verde hurricane that was the farthest traveling and largest Tropical Cyclone ever observed, after Hurricane John in 1996. The Thirty-Ninth tropical depression, Twenty-Fourth tropical storm, and Twelfth hurricane of the 2214 Atlantic Hurricane season, also the Forty-Third tropical depression, Seventeenth tropical storm, and Ninth hurricane of the 2214 Pacific Hurricane season, along with being the Fifty-First tropical depression, Forty-Eighth tropical storm, Twenty-Fourth typhoon, and Sixteenth super typhoon of the 2214 Pacific Typhoon season, and finally the twenty-first depression, and sixth cyclone of the 2214 North Indian Cyclone season, Mep'Lak originated from a vigorous tropical wave that exited the west coast of Africa on August 11. The tropical wave coalesced into Tropical Depression Thirty-Nine later in the day. At 12:00 UTC on August 12, The depression strengthened into Tropical Storm Mep'lak.
