The Siyaphumelela (“We Succeed”)[1] project was set up in 2014, by SAIDE, in response to a need to improve student success and graduation rates with evidence based support[2] The Kresge Foundation, sponsored SAIDE to manage the programme and four institutions to receive four-year grants

  1. the University of the Witwatersrand,
  2. University of Pretoria,
  3. University of the Free State and
  4. Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University

Background

Higher learning in post apartheid South Africa opened the doors to teaching and learning, to a large proportions of first generation students. They then discovered that there student success.[4]

Conference

The Siyaphumelela annual conference is intended to use data and analytics to promote student success[5]
