Chandpur port is an ancient river port in Bangladesh. This port is located on the eastern bank of the Meghna river. The port now serves as a passenger transport port. However, some of the port's commodities transport goods as well as passenger buildings. From this port, ships or passenger launches operate on Dhaka and Barisal river root.[1][2][3]
History
[edit]The exact time to establish the Chandpur port is not known, but it is estimated that the port is a thousand years old. The port has moved east due to the breakdown of the Meghna river. In this way, the port moved about 5 km ago. The port was widely used as a river in British India during the British period. At this time jute ships were taken from this port to Kolkata. After the partition of the country, the port of Chandpur goes into East Pakistan. From that time onwards it became known as an important river port in Bangladesh.[4]
