A Concussive convulsion is a convulsion that occurs after a concussion, the mildest type of traumatic brain injury. or immed after any tbi??? cc's are not not really epileptic in nature[1] and are not to be confused with post-traumatic epilepsy, which is a symptom of more serious injury.[2] During a concussive convulsion, the patient displays tonic and clonic movements.(from mesh)
Concussive convulsions occur within seconds of an impact.[3] They are thought to result from temporary loss of brain function rather than from structural damage to the brain and are usually associated with a good outcome.[4]
Frequency
[edit]Concussive convulsions occur in one in about seventy concussions.[2]
Features
[edit]Concussive convulsions have a similar presentation to concussive syncope.[1]
Prognosis
[edit]Prognosis is usually good.[4] Concussive convulsions do not need to be treated.[1]
