David Carle (born November 9, 1989 in Anchorage, Alaska), brother to Matt Carle, was a professional ice hockey prospect, coming out of Shattuck-St. Mary's in Faribault, Mn, before being diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. David's illness was first suspected by NHL doctors, and then confirmed at the Mayo Clinic]]. David's scholarship to the University of Denver is being honored, and coach George Gwozdecky has stated that he will make sure David stays an important part of the Denver Pioneers hockey club. David's condition was diagnosed before the 2008 NHL entry draft. As a sign of respect, Tampa Bay used a seventh round pick to draft Carle.
