patriots FA

[edit]

Definitely go for it. Be sure to read why the previous nomination failed and fix any problematic issues still present since then (although it looks much better than it did in October). Good luck! Gflores Talk 22:52, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Send me a message when you nominate it, please. :) Gflores Talk 02:09, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

Xenosaga edits

[edit]

Thanks for the recommendations! Yeah, I meant to Wikify the story sections and work on adding citations, but I've been distracted with the Patriots FA run. Many, many thanks for the tips! Deckiller 01:31, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

I formatted the notes at Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht using a handy little template and noticed that the URLs you previously had were framed versions. When you use gamerankings.com or other such sites to find reviews, you need to remove the frames ("Remove Bar" in this case) to get the "true" URL. I know you're currently doing a lot of work with the Xenosaga articles, so you might apply this to any other articles that could use it. Also, I did a link check and removed any redirects I found. You've got a pretty sizable area in the "Story" section without any links, you might see about adding some. Also, your refs and notes don't line up; I'm not sure if you copied the wrong note during the split or what. You might rename the notes to something more descriptive than "XenosagaXX" to avoid confusion in the future. Hope this helps you out, and good luck with the articles! --Pagrashtak 00:50, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Sounds great

[edit]

The Falcons deserve FA status! I'll use my inferior WIki skillz on it and see what random information I can add to their page. ;D AdmiralTreyDavid 02:27, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Your user page!

[edit]

Sup sup Tyler! No worries, I'm definetely interested in designing a new user page for you... I like challenges, and your current page is such a lovely mess, that I'm dying to get started ;) Just let me finish a few other requests I have, and in a couple of days at most I'll get my hands on yours. Btw, this would be the best time to let me know your preferences, if you have any - namely, colors, layout, and such. I'm all ears =) Kisses! - Phædriel tell me - 02:56, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

:Aww, thanks, dear Tyler =) This one is for Nightstallion; I have a more or less similar layout in mind for you, albeit with a few different features and another color theme. Btw, I just noticed you reverted some vandalism to my user page recently; I had not noticed before. Thank you so very much! Hundred kisses, Phædriel tell me - 22:39, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback/criticism of the Patriots article; I will get on those ASAP. Deckiller 20:03, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Star Wars merges

[edit]

Hey man, I noticed you were into merges as well. I merged a few items into devices, droids, vehicles, and many others. I also created new lists for companies (manufacturers), substances, and so on. What other lists do you think we can do without objection? Deckiller 22:42, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Currently, I'd like to create the following:

Those latter few will basically split the minor vehicles list. Deckiller 22:56, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

I also suggest that, when fancruft and merging and cleanup is near completion for the Star Wars articles, that we create some templates. Deckiller 23:35, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

I'm currently working on a List of Rogue Squadron pilots in which I hope to merge all the various Rogue Squadron pilot articles into a single list. Aside from that, I have a few items on my to-do list regarding Star Wars. My biggest project is a complete rewrite of the Clone Wars article, as discussed here. I'm also cleaning up List of Star Wars weapons, and I'd like to merge Clone weaponry with that article as well. I'd also like to get rid of the redundancy of List of Star Wars books and List of Star Wars references (a merge was in progress—I don't know what's become of it). There's a few other odds and ends on my to-do list regarding Star Wars, if you want to take a look. Feel free to leave any comments on my talk page. – Mipadi 06:08, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Okay, cool. Do you think the above merges sound like good ideas? I mean, merging together at least the stubs wouldn't stir up a hornet's nest. Deckiller 20:30, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
I like your merge ideas. Can't go wrong with merging stubs, especially stubs that are never, ever going to be developed into lengthy articles. I'd say go ahead and do those whenever you have the chance. – Mipadi 22:54, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Cool. Which naming style do you think is best? List of.... or ...in Star Wars? Deckiller 22:56, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
I'd go with a "List of…" style of naming—that's what the style guide suggests is most appropriate. – Mipadi 22:57, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Air vehicles list is complete. So is the aquatic vehicles list. Deckiller 23:16, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Nice. If I can assist with anything else, let me know. – Mipadi 23:34, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Ah, okay. What would you say our limits would be for this? Also, what do you think we should do about the little tables for each ground vehicle/starfighter stub? Deckiller 23:41, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Well, remember Wikipedia's motto: Be Bold. If you think something can be merged, I say go ahead and do it. The worst that will happen is someone disagrees and undoes it.
Having said that, sometimes, when making major changes, it is advisable to discuss it first. Merging stub articles will probably not get a huge outcry; merging large articles might, so you might want to post a {{merge}} notice first and let users discuss the proposal.
As for the starfighter boxes, I'd personally keep them, and merge them onto the new page. Well, to be honest, I personally wouldn't mind dispensing with them, but people might get annoyed if you unilaterally decide to do that. – Mipadi 23:52, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
-=nods=- I've been a mergist for a few months, especially on video game pages, but I'm relatively new to the Star Wars merges (two weeks at the most). I already had one person disagree, so that made me a little paranoid ^_^. Deckiller 00:01, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I used and abused the merge tag over at the FF pages :) Deckiller 00:02, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
Well, I like the work done so far—keep it up! – Mipadi 00:10, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
Many thanks ^_^ I'll try and get the other two lists started before Survivor: Panama. Deckiller 00:28, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
It may appear to be a mess right now; I have to merge all the references (footnote style, I assume) before redirecting. Deckiller 00:41, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations on FA

[edit]

Good work on making the New England Patriots a featured article. Next up, Tom Brady? ;) Gflores Talk 20:02, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Congrats!

Congratualtions on the Patriots FA status! You worked hard on it, and deserve it. Griz 21:54, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Re: Star Wars articles

[edit]

Hey, just so you know, I'm going to be responding to your messages on my Talk page. (I used to respond to everything on my talk page, but then I stopped…but it's a lot easier to follow threads that way, when they're all in one place, so that's where I'll be responding.) – Mipadi 23:36, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Response

[edit]

I agree that the comment regarding about Final Fantasy VIII being equated with the "Titanic of video games" is unfounded and requires sources. As far as the fan base being gigantic, you are exercising pure and simple hypocrisy by constantly preventing me in making this change. As you can will see in the history of the article, the ORIGINAL phrase was "gigantic" and was then changed to "large and widespread." The individual who changed it was not harassed for "sources" and was allowed to make the change freely. I am merely reversing this miniscule change back to its original and more accurate form. Please stop practicing hypocrisy and discrimination against me. Thank you. ~ Vost 13:17, 3 February 2006 (PST)

You see, it wasn't that we were being discriminating or anything, it's just that gigantic is agreed to be a rather colorful adjective at times, because it usually requires a statistic (gigantic stands out from "large" fanbases, though either way, we need to cite a statistic for the size issue anyway. We just felt that large would be a less stand-out term and a good filler until we found some sources to back up the fanbase claims). Deckiller 21:22, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
You can read my response to Hibana regarding this. I already have cited a specific site, and I know of many more that show evidence of Final Fantasy VIII and VII having "gigantic" fan bases. You can check out eyesonFF.com yourself, which is one of the most popular sites on the internet for discussion on past and future Final Fantasies. ~ Vost 13:31, 3 February 2006 (PST)
I added a section on the discussion page for Final Fantasy VIII, with an update regarding this matter. Thank you.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Vost (talkcontribs)
