Copyvio in TPM

[edit]

Apparently a certain paragraph in the article on Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace slipped through and is a copyvio from it's source. Would you mind running over there and reworking the paragraph? It's currently hidden inside the Reaction section. Thanks a lot! And thanks for all your help with the A New Hope FAC! The Filmaker 17:27, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

  • I've reworked it a bit, I'm not sure it deserves the copyvio. What do you think? The Filmaker 20:24, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Sorry

[edit]

Yes, your inclusion of "idiot" caused me to revert it. Sorry about that. James086Talk | Contribs 13:59, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi

[edit]

Tyler—which article are you referring to?

Will you kindly have a quick read of User:Tony1/How to find good copy-editors, an offshoot in my personal space that I intend to fling at nominators who say "Where can I find people to help?" It's raw, and I'd appreciate feedback.

First dissent

[edit]

We have our first dissenter at the talk page of Minigames. At least we got the whole page layed out before it started. I think I'll start working on another merge episode tomorrow, I'm pretty happy with myself about minigames. --PresN 07:41, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Did you call my work poorly written?

[edit]

I took care to make Terra Branford at least up to par with some of the other articles. Frankly, I will be very dissapointed if you destroy my work. I took care to find as much development stuff as I can, but if you call my work "cruft" when it is not intended to be, I take offense. Sorry, I just take things that way. Sir Crazyswordsman 22:21, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the confirmation. What I hope we can do in starting a trend is to start externally linking to the articles on the FF Wikia about the topic, which are much, much too crufty for Wikipedia but are very helpful for those who want to learn more. I remember a long time ago when I first became a mergist, I learned that this is a practice that we should probably start. Sir Crazyswordsman 00:49, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

flab

[edit]

Weeding out useless words doesn't appear on the radar screen of lanuage training. That's why flab is endemic. Another reason is that it's good is in its absence, so tight writing doesn't show what has been removed, and people are never constantly reminded of it as an issue as they are WRT bad grammar or spelling. Your comments on Jaws

[edit]

Hi. You posted on the Jaws article talk page about the section "Differences from the novel". You wanted the list to be converted into prose and to add references citing the novel's and film's differences. I've done half that; I've added citations with page numbers to several entries. As for converting the list to prose, it's hard for me to see how that would make a coherent paragraph. Could you look over that section and see if there's anything that needs fixing? Thanks for your input.--Dark Kubrick 15:26, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Beasties

[edit]

I quite agree, now to decide which ones are in fact the most important. Bleh. I'm so glad you decided to do this on your userpage rather than in the actual article, the fanboy screams when you copy it in will be loud. I'll be on revert patrol for a week at least. :) --PresN 04:32, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit]

Hi, I removed the Al Bhed language from the featured topic because it wasn't part of the nominated list. If you want it to be included, you should nominate it, though it probably needs to be expanded a bit before being nominated. --Arctic Gnome 17:40, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

S/he

[edit]

There is a specific source that is provided at the end of the paragraph, I've added it again to the sentence after the comma to clarify. The Filmaker 04:13, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Well, he reverted again. Would you mind blocking the not-so kind gentlemen? :) The Filmaker 01:12, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
The Filmaker asked me to look into the issue. Since the revert war doesn't seem to be stopping, I've protected the article, in lieu of issuing blocks, which I don't think would be as productive. Let me know if you think that there's a better way to have handled this, since I don't often protect because of edit warring. Thanks. — TKD::Talk 04:13, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
OK, I'll unprotect. I'm hoping, though, that it did send a clear signal that the revert warring has to stop. Thginking about it, it's pretty transparent that the IP is the same person as Venom smasher, so I'll warn him/her that logging out to game 3RR isn't going to be tolerated. I'll make that clear, and block if revert warring continues (well before three reverts, since 3RR isn't an entitlement). Since protection was already tried, it'd be punitive to block anyone in the absence of new behavior. So I'll unprotect and see how things go. — TKD::Talk 20:16, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
You might want to watch him. He's stated that I've "left him no choice". He might begin to edit war again, I don't know. But he's obviously not interested in conversing ideas. The Filmaker 20:39, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
Please. Do something. Help me out. Reason with him. Block him. Do something. He's rude, he's obnoxious, he violates the three-revert rule, he won't listen to reason, and now he's making demands. The following sentence is to express how frustrated I am with him: He's completely fucking up my articles!
Before you post a link to WP:OWN, yes, I'm aware that I do not own any pages on Wikipedia (not even my own user page and talk page). But I put my blood, sweat and tears into these articles and he's picking them apart and refusing to understand or even consider the possibility that he is wrong. And I just don't know what to do anymore. The Filmaker 04:19, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
As you'll see in the AOTC history, he's reverted twice since you warned him. I hope this is sufficient grounds for a decent length block. The Filmaker 21:51, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
I hated to do this, but I filed a dual WP:AN3 report. The revert warring on Episode II had gotten really out of hand. I understand where The Filmaker is coming from, but, at least on that article, the changes revolved around a single sentence, which makes the dispute seem very petty. No matter who's "in the right", revert warring is bad form. — TKD::Talk 22:47, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

While we're not at war

[edit]

I was hoping that you could help me out by copyediting a tiny article of mine that I'm getting up to FA status. I don't know if I mentioned it to you before because there was a whole problem with a copyvio that I didn't know about. It's Pilot (House) I've already had Judgesurreal and TKD copyedit and there are still apparently prose problems according to Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Pilot (House)/archive2. So you might want to look there to get started. It's not very long at all, so I was hoping you would do this for me if anything as something to do on here other than argue with Venom-smasher. :) This is all, of course, if you accept. ? :) The Filmaker 04:56, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

You mentioned that the synopsis prose was little confusing. Is there anything that needs explanation for you to format it correctly? The Filmaker 17:07, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Are you done copyediting. I'd prefer to know before I call up User:Tony1. :) The Filmaker 15:18, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks again. :) The Filmaker 16:59, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Redirection of Ultimecia/Rinoa things to the Talk: Ultimecia page

[edit]

Hi, I'm new to Wikipedia and my name is Eileen. I have deleted and moved Ultimecia/Rinoa things to the Talk: Ultimecia page because a user has requested to redirect everything to that page. So can you keep it from reappearing and pass on the news? I don't have an account but if you reply on your page, I'll read it. (Can you send me an IP message when you do so I know? It would be much appreciated.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.142.130.33 (talk) 03:00, 29 December 2006 (UTC).

Tyler—I hope I didn't offend you with my objection to the FTopic project. I just didn't see the point; but I'm willing to be proved otherwise. Tony 05:00, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
