This elegant piece is typical of the artist’s early Giverny canvases. The piece is oil on canvas with dimensions of 36 3/8 x 29 1/8 in. or 45 x 37 1/2 x 2 1/2 in. framed. [1]
Provenance
[edit]It has been a part of the Pennsylvania collection, and in the Spanierman Gallery of New York. On 2 December 1988, it was sold at Christie's. Originally intended as a partial gift to Jane and Andrew Paine, it was purchased by Jane and Andrew Paine. Finally, it was promised as a donation to the Indianapolise Museum of Art (IMA) in 1997.
