The Struts are a 4 piece guitar band from Derby who signed to Future/Mercury Records in late 2010. Adam Slack (guitar, vocals) and Luke Spiller (lead vocals) met in early 2009 having both played in local bands since the age of 14.They created a new band and sound combining their retro melodies with contemporary and rock n roll influences.
Jamie Binns (bass),was in a pop-punk band before he met Adam and Luke through Prestige Management. Rafe Thomas (drums, vocals) had been drumming with The Aviators, a funk band from Cambridge, until they split up, and was looking out for another band to join when he met Luke, Addo and Jamie. [1]
In 2010 The Struts was created and the four members moved into a band house together in Derby, signing a record deal with Future/Mercury, and playing small gigs in Derby and the Midlands, building a bigger following in that area.
The unique sound they had created, combining gospel, soul, Beatles and classic rock influences, earned them a place as support act to McFly on their 2011 UK tour , playing major arenas across the country. [2][3]
