Silkpunk is a sub-genre of science fiction and fantasy. It is inspired by the history and cultures of East Asia. Its technologies are often based on bamboo and silk with qualities of suppleness and flexibility.[1] It also includes elements of magic and draws from the mythology of China and other Asian cultures.
The term silkpunk has been used by author Ken Liu to describe his own work[2][3]. It has also been applied to the writings of JY Yang[4] and Lian Hearn[5].
