As of 8 a.m. PDT (15:00 UTC) August 30, Hurricane Norman is located within 20 nautical miles of 17°48′N 118°00′W / 17.8°N 118.0°W / 17.8; -118.0 (Norman), about 630 miles (1015 km) west-southwest of the Baja California Peninsula. Maximum sustained winds are 130 knots (150 mph; 240 km/h), with gusts to 160 knots (185 mph; 295 km/h). The minimum barometric pressure is 937 mbar (hPa; 27.67 inHg), and the system is moving west at 7 knots (8 mph; 13 km/h). Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km), while tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center of Norman.
