The Cape Fear Railway, which was originally built as a streetcar line connecting the city of Fayetteville, NC, with the military base at Fort Bragg. In 1926 the company became a common carrier for freight and in 1930 took over operation of all military tracks on Fort Bragg. It connected both with the Aberdeen and Rockfish and the Seaboard System. In 1979 the company obtained authorization to discontinue operations, but remained in business for some time after this date up to at least as late as 1986. It is currently defunct, but some track is still visible along at least one of the major business highways off the All-American Highway, which leads to the main gate of the base. Reporting marks were CF. The engine house was located on Fort Bragg and in the mid-1980's the roster consisted of two Alco model MRS-1s.
