Darcy J. Deutsch AKA, Darcy D (born 1962) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, recording artist, producer, vocal coach and artist developer. His music career began in 1981 fronting the Vancouver based club band Simon Kaos. Simon Kaos rose to the top of the club scene and by 1987 had evolved into one of S.L. Feldman & Associates biggest bands. Performing 3 sets/night, 6 nights/week and 50 weeks/year. With Simon Kaos Darcy recorded several records with producers such as Bill Henderson/Chilliwack at Blue Wave Studios and with Brian MacLeod/Head Pins at Little Mountain Sound. The band was managed by Feldman agent, Casy Boyle. Although the band never signed a major record deal their popularity earned them opening slots for a number of recording acts including: Loverboy, Kim Mitchell, Platinum Blonde, Quiet Riot, Headpins and Randy Bachman.
In 1987 Darcy was performing at a night club in Kelowna BC with Simon Kaos. Lindsay Mitchell, the guitarist for Canadian band Prism happened to enter the club during the last set. Before the encore Mitchell approached Darcy and asked him if he could jam with the band in the encore. The band played a couple of Prism songs and said goodnight. Lindsay then informed Darcy that Prism was in the process of auditioning singers to put the band back together. Prism stopped performing following the passing of original singer Ron Tabak. At the time Darcy refused Lindsay's offer.
A few months later, Darcy leaves Simon Kaos and joins Prism. Darcy spent the next 17 years fronting the band performing shows all over North America. In 1996 Prism releases "Over 60 Minutes with Prism" on Capital Records. The album was a best of release which featured several new tracks recorded at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver.
In 1997 Prism records new album featuring the lineup Rocket Norton, Lindsay Mitchell, Al Harlow, Andy Lorimer and Darcy D. The album is produced by Jim Vallance and features a cowrite in "Good To Be Back" with Bryan Adams, and the songs "Stand Up For Love / Rick Springfield" and "Bad News Travels Fast/Randy Bachman".
In 2004 Darcy leaves Prism.
In 2023 Darcy recieves recognition from Canada's Walk of Fame for his contribution to the Music Industry during his time with Prism.
