Who Will Carry the Word? is a French play by Charlotte Delbo, translated into English by Cynthia Haft. The original title is Qui Rapportera Ces Paroles?, and tells the story of twenty-three French women held in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II. It was written in 1966 and was first performed at the Cyrano Theatre, Paris in 1974.[1] The characters are all members of the French Resistance, captured and imprisoned in February 1943. The play portrays in detail the hardships of life in a concentration camp, following the relationships between the women as they are surrounded by illness, starvation and death.
