About me

[edit]

I am currently a Running Start student at Everett Community College. I plan on pursuing a career in software development. I still have not decided whether I only want to receive an associate's degree or stay in school and pursue a bachelor's degree. When not focusing on school, I enjoy being outdoors. My favorite outdoor activity is playing basketball. Basketball is the third most popular sport in America[1] I also am involved in my church. I grew up with six older siblings and they all were very involved in the church. Now that I am older, I am following in their footsteps..

My Wikipedia Interests

[edit]

I have been using Wikipedia since I was a child, yet I never made an edit on a Wikipedia page or even made an account until taking English&101. Other than trying to find out about something I have a question about, I usually use Wikipedia to look at the records of UFC fighters. I would be interested in making edits to fighters' pages. I would also like to make edits to the pages of some of my favorite authors if their pages do not exist or do not have a lot of information on them. Most of these authors fall into the adventure genre.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

I used to attend Kamiak High School before coming to Everett Community College. I was curious to learn about my high school. I wanted to learn about the history of Kamiak as well as some notable figures who attended. I visited the Kamiak High School article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the age of the article, the reliability of the sources, and the lack of sources for the list of clubs the school offers.

Age of Article

[edit]

Kamiak's High School's page is updated consistently. In the last six months, the article has been edited ten times. Schools do not change often, so editing a school Wikipedia page requires little maintenance. Ten edits in half a year is an acceptable amount to keep an article of this type up to date.

Reliability of Sources

[edit]

The sources of this article consist mostly of local news articles as well as a few primary sources. For instance, the article uses Kamiak's student handbook as a source for sports the school offers. As for the local news sources, some of these articles are old, written over twenty years ago. To keep this information accurate, the sources need to be updated to more modern ones.

Lack of Source

[edit]

Kamiak High School's page does a pretty good job of citing most of its information. However, the article has not given a source for the list of available clubs for Kamiak students. I'm sure one of the sources already used contains the unsourced information. This source can also be used to cite the list of clubs.

Summary

[edit]

Overall, this article is average. This article is often worked on. While most of the article's sources are reliable, some of the sources can be updated to more recent ones. The article is also missing a source for some of its information. I think these problems can be quickly fixed, and with a bit of time, this article can become excellent.
