Original Contribution
[edit]This non-profit organization, Focus African Foundation is an organization that focuses mainly on Education, Healthcare & generating fresh water, income generating activities, and wildlife and environment issues. This organization has improved many thing in Africa. The Focus African Foundation is built off of belief and hope. This organization was created because they believe in change and growth.Focus Africa Foundation has provided many things for them, such as class rooms for the kids to learn, Gardens for healthy fruits and vegetables, and jobs for the mothers to help provide income.
The Social development (education) division focuses more on the kids and some adults to provide a proper education. Grade levels start at Primary and into high school levels, of course. They also provide Day Care for the kids who aren't ready to enter into those higher levels of education. The FAF has a scholarship program called Community Leaders Education Fund. This scholarship program was formed in 1995 to help fund students in interior areas. This scholarship programs helps individuals to gain leadership skills. In this scholarship program students have to do community service, such as have to give back to those in need during the holiday's by creating some kind of activity that helps to uplift those in the community.
Healthcare and generating fresh water, generally supports the amount of fresh water they have and how much is being created. In the Health department they generally focus on building more places in Africa for patients who are in critical condition and need medical attention. Focus Africa Foundation has built clinics to ensure the correct medical assistance in a clean area. Now as we know the people in Africa have had to generate fresh water in their own way by taking very long walks with barrels just to get water and then they have to carry it all the way back to their house, which is a great amount of distance. The Focus Africa Foundation has found a way to help generate fresh water so that they don't have to carry barrels a great amount of distance. The Focus Africa Foundation has supplied them with guttering and rain water tanks, and pumps and windmills which is way better than what they've had to do.
Focus Africa Foundation has created a way to help mothers bring some sort of income into the house. This section is called "income generating activities". The Focus Africa Foundation has taught them entrepreneurship, which is very good for the community that they are in. They also have a skills training program. The skills training program teaches them skills in things such as, plumbing, carpentry, electrical knowledge, brick-laying, tiling, plastering and emerging contractor training. They are selected in a specific way and it includes men and women. Other things that the income generating activities section has is agriculture projects and crafting markets.
Wildlife and environment teaches people how to appreciate wildlife. Seeing that rhino poaching is a huge problem in South Africa, the Focus Africa Foundation has worked in many ways to relocate an estimate of 100 rhinos to the safe haven of Botswana. In this safe haven the rhinos are protected and monitored with the latest technology, which costs over 8 million dollars. This safe haven helps to ensure the safety of the rhinos that have been harmed.
