Daniel Argota also known as Argota is a Cuban/Canadian/American independent singer, songwritter, and music producer based out of Miami Florida.

Biography

[edit]

Daniel Argota (born October 18, 1999) began his music career in 2017 after dropping out of High-School to chase his dreams of being a great artist, teaching himself how to produce/write and record through Youtube, masterclasses and online courses. Argota was born in Montreal, Quebec and moved to Miami Florida when he turned 6, since then he's lived in Nicaragua early 2013, Puerto Rico in 2020 and Punta Gorda. Argota is the textbook definition of a DIY musician, as he’s used all his motivation and self-funding towards making himself one of the key artists in the South Florida local music scene and beyond. He started playing the drums at just two years old, following up with piano at 8, and then finally the guitar at 10, with the first song he learned on the guitar being Day Tripper by The Beatles. Being almost four years into establishing himself as a recording artist, he’s used some of his key influences, such as Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi, and The Beatles in helping him find his musical identity[1].

Argota released an EP I'm alone. I'm stuck in my mind, there's a paper bag and I wanna find it. during the first Covid-19 lockdown in Miami, It is a 6 track EP that incapsulates his unresolved issues from struggles that come from a tumultuous upbringing. This collection of songs highlights his internal conflict and self-doubt and subsequent growth and peace.Throughout the EP Argota uses his music to communicate with his younger self; trying to understand who he is and what’s truly important in this insane world.Citing influences like Frank Ocean, Buddy Ross[2], Rex Orange County, and Bill Withers, he brings an interesting mix of R&B and acid rock. These are songs I would expect to hear on a festival stage. The bluesy vocals bring to mind bands like Kings of Leon. This is one of those rare times when the listener gets to witness an artist going through a sort of cathartic evolution with every track. [3]

After a 2-year hiatus, living in Puerto Rico to get away from the noise of the city, Argota locked in and made an abundant amount of music and self discovery. Through this period he released a single "Ultraviolet", an emotional roller coaster of experimental Rock and Lofi with introspective songwriting following a theme of anxiety and everyday pressures of a young adult uncovering his childhood trauma. Argota continues to release music through Distrokid and visual art alongside it, currently residing in Punta Gorda you can expect a lot more coming from this young artist.
