About me

I'm currently a running start student who's from and lives in the Pacific Northwest. I enjoy studying the mechanics of things. One of my favorite things to study was how do rotary engines work. Other things about me: I admire fishing in the Pacific Northwest, and also love to explore new places.

My Wikipedia activities

I would be using Wikipedia for many projects and assignments such as this bio was a part of the assignment. Doing research projects and assignments I tend to use Wikipedia as a good source of information and text. Over the past years, I have been using Wikipedia as a good source of information for school projects and assignments. As a user of Wikipedia, I hope to accomplish research and gather much information from Wikipedia, having a vast amount of information about multiple subjects. Article evaluation

As a car enthusiast, I love to research cars and love to talk about car topics. While doing research I find myself looking at many unreliable sources. Toyota is one of my favorite car manufacturers producing many amazing cars I love. Today I visited the Toyota JZ engine article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on; Are the fact cited with an appropriate, reliable source? Are any of the links dead?, and Is the article up-to-date?

Are the fact cited with an appropriate, reliable source? Looking through the article there were not many links attached the links. For example, "The 2.5L 1JZ uses over square bore dimensions 86 mm × 71.5 mm (3.39 in × 2.81 in) and, in naturally aspirated guise, a 10:1 compression ratio. With the aid of a DOHC, 24-valve head, and a dual-stage intake manifold. Like all JZ-series engines, the early 1JZ-GE is designed for longitudinal mounting and rear-wheel-drive. All of these models also came with a 4-speed automatic transmission as standard; no manual gearbox option was offered. Output for the early non-turbo, non-VVTI (1990–1995) 1JZ-GE was 125 kW (168 bhp; 170 PS) at 6000 rpm and 235 N⋅m (173 lb-ft) at 4800 rpm. In this paragraph, facts were posted about the 1JZ-GE engine but no references were supporting this paragraph above. When I looked up the 1JZ-GE engine I came across this site "https://www.engine-specs.net/toyota/1jz-ge.html" which lists all accurate Information and specs about engines. "The 1JZ-GE The Toyota 1JZ-GE is a 2.5 liter (2,492 cc, 152.07 cu-in) straight-six, four-stroke cycle natural aspirated gasoline engine from the Toyota JZ-family. The engine was manufactured by the Toyota Motor Corporation on the Tahara Plant (Tahara, Aichi, Japan) from 1990 to 2007. The Toyota 1JZ-GE engine features a cast-iron block, aluminum cylinder head with dual belt-driven overhead camshafts, and four valves per cylinder (24 in total). The 1JZ-GE is equipped with an electronic fuel injection system, VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) since 1996, ACIS variable-length intake manifold. Bore and stroke are 86.0 mm (3.39 in) and 71.5 mm (2.81 in), respectively." Posting references such as the link above https://www.engine-specs.net/toyota/1jz-ge.html would give the readers a more accurate point of view of where they got the evidence and facts from.

Are any of the links dead? In the article, I came across a dead link on the Wikipedia page. For example, "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khC4uTWXowI" this youtube link wasn’t accessible which makes the link dead. Dead links are unreliable sources of information due to not showing evidence or facts where were they referenced. Not able to access the link doesn’t show the viewer where was the Information found. My example from the article page " Toyota JZ engine" had a couple of reliable sources that were accessible such as"https://web.archive.org/web/20131005103034/http://www.jdmspecengines.com:80/toyota-engines/jz-series/2jz-gte.html ." The link was accessible and was a reliable source showing information about the Toyota 2JZ-GTE engine.

Is the article up-to-date? The article had many sources from 2009 which is not up-to-date. For example "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khC4uTWXowI" a youtube video that wasn't accessible but was posted on 2009-02-19. Which makes it not a reliable source or up to date due to when it was posted. A perfect example of an up-to-date source is" https://www.engine-specs.net/toyota/1jz-ge.html " which was posted on August 13, 2019. This is a good example of a reliable and up-to-date source.

All though is article had many flosses. Such as; the lack of cited sources, if any links are dead, is the article up-to-date. Also had a couple of reliable sources and up-to-date Information but some flows that are pointed should be addressed to have a good article and a good source for our readers. Such as car enthusiasts that research cars.
