Day 1

[edit]

Arriving in the state of North Carolina (most likely Charlotte) in the early morning around breakfast time, going to the Waffle House off Billy Graham Parkway at Interstate 85 is the easiest solution for Breakfast, but arriving around Lunch the Bojangles' just south of Waffle House is well received.

Reminder, that a local Carolina favorite, Harris Teeter has the famous Cheerwine soft drink i stock regularly as well as another once-national now regional soft drink Mello Yello. Be sure to get a styroform ice chest and fill it with ice from the hotel for the roadtrips.

Dinner time in Charlotte, is a carnival of choices. The O'Charley's on South Tryon, is the place to go if you want a decent sit-down restaurant, while Cracker Barrel at I-85 and Billy Graham is good Southern home cooking.

Day 2

[edit]

Leaving Charlotte, heading southwest on I-85 into the state of South Carolina, stopping for breakfast at Sonic Drive-In, Chick-fil-A or Hardee's along the road to Greenville, South Carolina is the best bet.

Arriving in Greenville, lunch is generally not recommended because dinner at Krystal is the best option.

Day 3

[edit]

Leaving the Upstate, heading southeast towards Columbia on Interstate 26, there are plenty of places along the way such as Huddle House for breakfast. When it comes to lunch in Columbia, Lizard's Thicket is good old-fashioned Carolina Cooking.

Two major places for dinner, Carolina Rib and Wing House and Yamato's Japanese are the two best bets.

Day 4

[edit]

Leaving Columbia, heading West towards Atlanta on Interstate 20, you cannot forget that Southern Cuisine does include another Southeast favorite Hooters has one of the best menus in a roadhouse type restaurant. Which in itself is a good place for Lunch.

But when in Atlanta, you really need to eat local food. Ted's Montana Grill is the ideal and best steakhouse place in the United States, dare I say the World. While The Varsity, is the World's largest Drive-In place in the World.

Day 5

[edit]

On the way to Savannah, places become more too familiar. Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits (another Atlanta original along with Chick-fil-A and Church's Chicken) is the place for lunch. Stop at Chick-fil-A for a lemonade or a Sweet Tea, then goto Popeye's for some chicken, but goto Church's for sides. The combo, is the perfect chicken meal.

But whence in Savannah, dinner is simply "The Lady & Sons Restaurant". The buffet which is truly southern, is the best buffet in the World.

Day 6

[edit]

Heading back into South Carolina on Interstate 95, any Drive-Thru place I mentioned would suffice for Breakfast and Lunch, because Dinner is 100 miles away in Charleston, South Carolina.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Company has the best Seafood and Cajun cuisine in a down-home franchise atmosphere.

Day 7

[edit]

Leaving the Southeast, eating in the airport in Atlanta there are Chick-fil-A and Popeye's to remind you of the taste of the Southeast.
