Djojotoegimin (born c. 1895) was an Indonesian musician, soldier, and political prisoner exiled by the Dutch to the Boven-Digoel concentration camp. Because of his musical training, he was an important cultural figure among the Digoel detainees.
Biography
[edit]Djojotoegimin was born around 1895 in Java, Dutch East Indies.[1]
He was a member of the military music corps of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL).[1][2]
He was a member of the Sarekat Rakjat (people's union), a communist-affiliated organization inspired by the Sarekat Islam, and a member of and propagandist for the Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI).[1] He lived in Tayu, Pati Regency, Central Java.[1]
In 1927 he was living in Semarang, Central Java.[1]
In December 1927 he was exiled to Boven-Digoel.[3]
