Meteorological history
[edit]On April 20, 2018, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) began to monitor an area of low pressure over the Indian Ocean, for potential tropical cyclogenesis. The JTWC later issued a Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert (TCFA) at 8:00 UTC on April 22.[1] Météo-France designated the system as a tropical depression at 6:00 UTC the next day, following an increase in convection and the development of an inner core.[2] The JTWC issued their first warning on the developing tropical cyclone just six hours later.[1]
