From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maximian's general Constantius Chlorus reconquered the Rhine estuary from the Franks for the Roman Empire in 288. He was co-emperor with his senior, Diocletian, who defeated the Sarmatians in Pannonia in 288-289. Maximian was in charge of the west of the Roman Empire.

In 289, Maximian tried to defeat emperor Carausius of Roman Britain, while one of his governors in Mauretania Caesariensis was fighting the rebellious Berber Bavares and Quinquegentiani.
