Alexander Severus had to deal with several uprisings of Roman soldiers, but his authority prevailed.
In 230, king Ardashir I of Persia invaded the Roman Empire, in order to restore the power of the ancient Achaemenid Empire. The Persians revolted against the Parthians, and completely defeated them. And in 230, the Romans were the next target. The Roman army was larger than the Persian, but was severely lacking in discipline. The Persians invaded Roman territory and Armenia and besieged Nisibis. Alexander Severus tried to make peace and agree upon keeping the borders as they were, but Ardashir refused. In 232, a battle took place, which was won by the Persians, but the Persian army had suffered a great deal, so in 233 peace could be made.
In 233, the Alamanni and other Germanic Peoples breached the Roman borders. Alexander Severus tried to bribe them in order to end the raids. The Roman soldiers were didn't like this and named Maximinus Thrax as the new emperor. Alexander Severus was killed.
