THALOD CASTE

Origin:-

Thalod are a hindu caste mainly found in Rajasthan(Nagaur, Sikar, Jhunjhunu) , Haryana. This Gotra orignated from THARAUL.

History:-

Chaudhari Babal Ji came from Dhamana and founded Losal Kheri in 1164 AD. Their kulvevi is Kuwan Mata. Thalod Jats founded the town Losal in Sikar district which was their capital. Thalodi was one village under the rule of Kaswan Jats with capital at Sidhmukh prior to Rathores in Jangladesh(Historical Name of Nagaur District).

Kuldevi :-

KHUVAN MATA is Deity of Thalod clan people. It derived from Persian compound, Kuhan/Quhandiz, which is name the Kunduz city meaning "old/ancient fort". We find mention of a goddess Kuvanna in Buddhist records like Mahavansa. Kuvanna was a Yakshini queen in Sri Lanka mentioned in the ancient Pali chronicles Mahavansa (Mahavansa/Chapter 7) and Dipavamsa.

A temple of Khuvan Mata is there in village Narsara in Fatehpur tehsil of Sikar district in Rajasthan and In the Genana Village of Nagaur district an old well( denoted as khuvan mata ka kuwa ) is worshiped by Thalod family of Genana village on 13 th of each hindu month.

THALORI - Thalori village in Churu tehsil of Churu district.

THALARKA - Village in Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan.

History of Thalod Gotra

The records of Thalod gotra are maintained by their Badwa Gopalrao village Srinagar, Tehsil Rajgarh, District Alwar. According to them, the origin of Thalod gotra is believed to be from Abu mountain in Chauhan dynasty. Their identification marks are -

सफ़ेद झंडा,
नगारा बेरीसाल,
वृक्ष चंपा,
निशान घोडा सफ़ेद,
शाखा - कौथुनी

According to Badwa Gopalrao's book, Chaudhary Babalji came from Dhamana and established the village of Losal-Kheda in Chait Badi Dooj Samvat 1221 (1164 AD). Made a solid well. While waiting for the well, three men got buried. Thalod people believe in Khuwan Mata. Khuwan Mata was shown to Babylon. Babylon drove all three people alive. Since then Thalod worships Khuwan Mata. Khuwan Mata made a vow that anyone can go to Thalod -

कुए पर जूती नहीं ले जायेगा,
शिकार नहीं करेगा,
मांस नहीं खायेगा,
सफ़ेद बकरी नहीं बेचेगा,
न सफ़ेद बकरी का दूध खायेगा,
न इसके दूध का बिलोवणा करेगा,
हरा मुरायला नहीं काटेगा.

Their deity is Shakal ji alias Saval ji. Shakalji was born on Chait Badi 5th Samvat 1652 (1595 AD) in the house of father Tehrajji in village Khudi in Thalod gotra. His mother's name was Rajadevi and she was the daughter of Kanji Dhaka of village Bhojasar. Rajadevi had two brothers - Kolaji and Dudaji.

Shakalji gave his life to save the cows. The Muslims were taking away the cows. Shakal ji chased the thieves and rescued them and brought the cows in Sidharana pair. There was a struggle to free the cows and they killed 5 people. They got engaged in the fight. In the Sidharana pair, Shakalji's Devli Jeth Sudi 11 Samvat 1671 Masonwai. In their memory, a fair is held on Chanani 11 of the month of Baisakh. Shakalji's string is tied when animals are sick. Bhuvari is offered when there is a wart. It is believed that warts get cured in 2-3 days.

Sidharana Joda is situated before Khudi in the east of Sanvaloda bus-stand and half a km east of National Highway-11. At present a beautiful temple of Shakalji is being built by the people of Thalod gotra. A temple of Shakalji is built in village Govindpura, 8 km from Fatehpur on the road to Ratangarh. This temple has been built by Shri Richpal Thalod of the village (Village Govindpura).
