                                                                  SERIOUS GAMES

A serious game or applied game is a game design for the primary purpose other than pure entertainment. That is a game whose primary objective is not fun or entertainment rather learning or practicing a skill. It is a subgenre of serious storytelling, where storytelling is applied the context of entertainment where the narration progresses as a sequence of pattern impressive in quality and is part of a thoughtful progress.

          Unlike gamification which applies game elements to make a task more fun, serious games are created around the specific purpose of teaching skills or to help create a better understanding of concepts. Serious game also combine learning strategies, knowledge and structures and elements to teach specific skills, knowledge and attitude. The use of serious of games for learning is known as game based learning 
                            Examples Of Serious Games

1. Microsoft Flight Simulator: which was designed to be a comprehensive simulation of civil aviation and its one of few non-combat flight simulators in existence. 2. Peacemaker: This is a game which the player to represent one side of a government to

make a social, political and military decisions. This game was originally a university project.

3 .A force more powerful which also is a documentary game about non-violent resistance to teach non-violent methods for waging conflicts using player-built scenarios

Circumstances Under Which To Use Serious Games. 1. In a situation where a student/students finds it hard to understand a concert, serious games can be used by the teacher to enable students understand better for effective teaching and learning to take place. 2. Serious games are a means for teaching students with short attention span. This makes students pay more attention to the game thus infusing the concept taught into him/her through the game for an effective teaching and learning to take place.
