DanteWuzHere is an Alternative R&B music singer-songwriter from the United States, who was signed to RCA Records in 2001 as Danté. The artist chose the moniker DanteWuzHere in 2017 as he explains "I wanted to make people pay attention to the artist that I am now and not the young r&b artist and work I was previously known for. Also every time I encounter someone they will indeed remember that Dante was here"
Originally from Bradenton, Florida, at a young age his mother relocated to the music mecca of Atlanta, Georgia.
As a teenager in Atlanta, a chance meeting with industry veteran Debra Killings (acting as his mentor) jump-started his love for the recording studio and writing songs. The turning point for the ambitious singer-songwriter occurred when his former manager took him to RCA Records in 2001 resulting in a recording contract and subsequently his debut album Inferno (led by the single Lawdy Lawdy) which was to be released in 2002. Inferno featured powerhouse production from Bryan-Michael Cox, Organized Noize, and Allen "Allstar" Gordon who produced it’s first single as well as the majority of the album but it was not released.
Stepping aside to hone his writing skills he began collaborating with other musicians, ultimately landing him in Tokyo where he created an album with the punk indie band, The Lost CTRL titled Electric Mayhem. After completing Electric Mayhem, he and the band embarked on a tour of Japan. In 2018 he became a Juno Award Nominee with a song contribution, the single Disturbed for Indigenous Pop Artist, Iskwé’s album The Fight Within which was nominated for Indigenous Music Album Of The Year.[1]
DanteWuzHere began working on his EP, Paradiso in the fall of 2017 in partnership with WhiteKid Records led by his plea to the world, the gritty bass, electric guitar and synth-driven single Heaven Help Us. The incredibly diverse EP includes contributions from Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Ryan Toby (Usher, Chris Brown and Mary J. Blige), Billionaire Focus Group and newcomers Altmann Productions, the producers of Heaven Help Us. Heaven Help Us was released on February 19, 2019, on WhiteKid Records.
The singer-songwriter also took up acting, appearing in the 2001 film Snipes as the character Damon, alongside rapper Nelly, Zoe Saldana, Sam Jones III, and Dean Winters. He also appeared in a number of commercial and ad campaigns for the years to follow. In 2017, he began modeling appearing in several fashion magazines for his edgy sense of style.
