In the late '90s, I got my start as a DJ / Producer in the Washington D.C. Area. This was an amazing place to find your groove with the music. WDC was home to some of the most talented & influential names in the business: Deep Dish, Saeed & Polash, Scott Henry, Charles Feelgood, Lonnie Fisher, Sam Burns, & Alex Whalen. Yoshitoshi Records & Bullet Talent Agency also called Georgetown home. Deep Dish built their primary studio here. BT grew up here. Best of all, we had an amazing stage: "Nation". Once known as the "Capital Ballroom", "Nation" was WDC's premier venue.
Soooooo, yeah... Tough place to come up....
In fact, WDC was considered to be one of the top cities in the country for Electronic Dance Music, rivaling NYC, LA, and Miami. At that time, powerhouse promoters like "Buzzlife Productions" (Buzz @ Nation, Fever @ The Paradox), "Ultraworld" (Starscape, Annual Armory Parties, Sonor), & "Panorama Productions" (Glow, Ultra) were bringing in a consistent flow of international talent for crowds of thousands, every weekend.
In 1999, I joined "Liquid Lounge Promotions" as a young DJ in a tough scene. It was with them that I partnered up with Erik Johnson (EJ) who was another local DJ. Together we made up the Tag Team duo "Contrast". We were one of two well respected collectives during those times. We had 10 DJs with "Contrast" playing the best venues. "Liquid Lounge" became a huge success, putting me in an excellent position to move up in the EDM world.
In 2000, I began working for Scott Henry, founder of "Buzz" and "Buzzlife Productions" as his Assistant / Main Floor Mgr / XM Radio Producer / Resident Local DJ. At the same time, I started working for Deep Dish and there Online Record Label site for Yoshitoshi Records under the direction of Alex Whalen.
(More blanks to fill in. More to come.)
Fast forward to 2016, many things have changed. The day of the mega club has passed. The music has evolved into so many different genres that it's tough to find the great tracks from the filler or less than stellar.
My plan? To bring the music back to EDM.... Find it's soul again. Using the experience I have gained along with the network I have built over the years, I'm planning to produce music that will show the kind of soul and complexity that it once had.
It's time to take our music back... Not with force, but with skill....
Thanks for visiting!
