Chotein (lit.'Wounds or Injuries') is a collection of short stories in Urdu by Ismat Chughtaifirst published in 1941.

Chotein was first published in 1942.[1] This was Chughtai's second collection of original short stories after Kaliyan (1941).

Themes

Chughtai explores human relationships in stories such as Saas and Lihaaf. While Saas deals with the relationship between a mother in law and a daughter in law, Lihaaf dwells and explores the relationship of a woman and her maid.

Jheeri Mein Se and Ek Shohar ki Khatir are biographical stories that describes incidents from Chughtai's own life.
