Chotein (lit. 'Wounds or Injuries') is a collection of short stories in Urdu by Ismat Chughtaifirst published in 1941.

[edit]Chotein was first published in 1942.[1] This was Chughtai's second collection of original short stories after Kaliyan (1941).

Themes
[edit]Chughtai explores human relationships in stories such as Saas and Lihaaf. While Saas deals with the relationship between a mother in law and a daughter in law, Lihaaf dwells and explores the relationship of a woman and her maid.
Jheeri Mein Se and Ek Shohar ki Khatir are biographical stories that describes incidents from Chughtai's own life.
