The Right Rev. Dr. Alford, who recently resigned the Bishopric of Victoria, Hongkong, has become curate of Bowden, Cheshire.
The Right Rev. Dr. Staley, late Bishop of Honolulu, has become curate of Groxliall, near Tamwortb.
Some of the retired colonial bishops have been more fortunate:
The Right Rev. Dr. Jenner did not give up the living of Preston, in Kent, while he was Bishop of Dunedin, and still holds it.
The Right Rev. Dr. Beckles, on retiring from the Bishopric of Sierra Leone, became minister of Berkeley Chapel, Mayfair, and some time since was presented to the rectory of Wootton, near Canterbury.
The Right Rev. Dr. Chapman, on retiring from the Bishoprick of Colombo, became rector of Wootton Courtney, Somerset, a Fellow of Eton College, and a Prebendary of Wells Cathedral.
The Right Rev. Dr. McDougall, on retiring from the Bishoprick of Labuan, became vicar of Godmanchester and Archdeacon of Huntingdon.
The Right Rev. Dr. Claughton, on retiring from the Bishoprick of Colombo, became Archdeacon of London and a Canon of St Paul's.
The Right Rev. Dr. Ryan, on retiring from the Bishopric of the Mauritius, became an Archdeacon in the diocese of Norwich, then rector of St. Nicholas, Guildford, and then vicar of Bradford.

the Right Rev. Dr. Hobhouse, formerly Bishop of Nelson, New Zealand, is also an assistant to Bishop Selwyn, and has the living of Edlaston, Derbyshire, to which Bishop Selwyn presented him in 1869,
The Right Rev. Dr. Trower, formerly Bishop of Gibraltar, is sub-dean of Exeter Cathedral
The Right Rev. Dr. Henry Cotterell, formerly Bishop of Grahamstown, has become Coadjutor Bishop of Edinburgh.

The Rev. Dr. Nixon, on retiring from the Bishopric of Tasmania, was presented to the vicarage of Bolton Percy, a rich Yorkshire living, but was obliged to resign it on account of enfeebled health.
