November 2015

[edit]

The Nintendo Direct on November 12, 2015,[nb 2] aired for Japan, North America, Europe, and Australia. Thirty-three games were covered during the broadcast, including the announcement of two new ones: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD and Pokémon Picross. Among notable announcements were details on the January 2016 Amiibo series—for Animal Crossing and Super Smash Bros.—and the addition of Cloud Strife as a downloadable character for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.[1] For The Legend of Zelda series, a new character was announced: Linkle, a gender bent, female version of Link. Although not part of the series' core-games, Linkle's addition yielded praise and criticism.[2][3] A virtual console release of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow was announced for the eShop to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise.[1]

† Only mentioned in the Japanese broadcast.
