Oliver Bowles Oliver Bowles (1877-1958) was a Canadian-born geologist and mining engineer who spent most of his career at the U.S. Bureau of Mines in Washington DC. He is the author of more than two dozen works on nonmetallic minerals, including mining and milling methods, uses, and associated technologies.
