The 2011 England CSA season in currently ongoing. England will complete the EuroCup 12 qualifers after it started the previous year. The 2011 season has seen England win the Home International Championship.
Background
[edit]England had a fantastic 2010 season, headlined by cementing their place as the world's best team by winning their second CSA World Cup in a row held in Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. Newcomers like Ryan Welch and Garry Stratford made huge impact in their first full year as England internationals, and had made a significant contribution to England's 10-0 hammering of San Marino in the opening qualifier for EuroCup 12. England followed this up with qualifying wins over Wales (3-1), Austria (2-0) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (3-1), before concluding their 2010 season with a 3-1 friendly win at home to Denmark.
Season summary
[edit]The team's 2011 season began with a humiliating 2-2 draw with Canada in Toronto, before regrouping to beat Iceland twice in three days the EuroCup 12 qualifiers (3-0 away, 4-1 at home).
England then competed at the summer Home Internationals, where every match took place at England's own Vodafone Stadium. England won the championship, finishing with a 2W-1D-0L record; wins against Wales and Ireland were sandwiched by a draw with Scotland.
England then beat Norway in a friendly at Barnsworth FC's Barns Park on 10 August, amidst chaotic scenes across the country. (Barns Park was booked to host the friendly months ago, but CSA England officials said if it had been booked at the Vodafone Stadium in London, it would have been cancelled due to the disorder in the English capital.)
