Mount Madja-as
Mount Madja-as or Madya-as or Madia-as is a mountain in northwest Panay, Philippines that lies within the municipality of Culasi, in Antique province. The peak of the mountain (2117m) is the highest in Panay island and second highest in Visayas region after Kanlaon. It is known as "Olympus of Panay."
Hiking Activity
September to May is the season of hiking actvity. There are two trails in Culasi: {1} Flores Trail (2) Alojipan trail) as jump-off points to Madja-as.
Mountaineering
Mount Madja-as was the second host venue of Annual Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines (MFPI) National Congress way back in 1981. Jointly organized by Philippine Airlines Mountaineering with local counterparts, Iloilo Mountaineering Society, Antique Mountaineering Society, Silliman Mountaineering. Several mountaineers and a dozen local guides joined in this national event.
