Reasons for this approach of a new mode of public service: 1. “The public interest is the result of a dialogue about shared values rather than the aggregation of individual self-interest.” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 2. “Value citizenship over entrepreneurship” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 3. “Think strategically, act democratically” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 4. “Public servant are more attentive to the citizens rather than the market” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 5. “Serve rather than steer: Value –based leadership in helping citizen articulate and meet their shared interest rather than attempting to control or steer society in new directions.” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 6. Public organization and the networks in which they participate are more likely to be successful in the long run if they are operate through processes of collaboration and shared leadership based on respect for all people. (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 7. “basically defined the citizen as one who acts with the good of the community in mind” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 8. “The democratic ideal of person actively engage in the work of the community or nation, benefiting both the society and themselves as they become more complete human being through their involvement in the political system.” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 9. “New Public service engages citizenship in the “politics of participation, ordinary citizens engage in dialogue and discourse concerning the directions of society and act based on moral principles such as those associated with the term ‘civic virtue’” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 10. “To put it simply, the person who remains actively involved in civic life will become a better person” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 11. “The virtuous citizen obviously is a citizen engage in the work of the community, but the virtuous citizen also has a duty or responsibility to serve others.” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 12. “The ethics of a new public service deviate from this approach when referring to organization humanism, communitarianism, citizenship, and discourse theory [and it] reaches back to Aristotle’s notion of man as a social/political animal and therefore man get his identity from his community.” (Wouter Vandenabeele) 13. “New public service thinks of administrators as ‘stewards’ of public resources, rather than owners.” (Wouter Vandenabeele) 14. “Organizations are more likely to persist and deliver results if they operate through processes of collaboration and respect for people.” (Wouter Vandenabeele) 15. “New public service wants administrators to actively create a shared notion of public interest, consistent with democratic norms.” (Wouter Vandenabeele) Bibliography Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).Janet V Denhardt, a.
