Keith Taillon is an American historian and writer whose work deals with Manhattan history.[1] He posts about history on his Instagram account, keithyorkcity, and The New Yorker compared the voice of his Instagram captions to Gossip Girl: (“lol sweeping around the room telling the curtain seamstress what to do. Rude.”)[1]

B.A. in history and a master’s in urban planning

He was born in Plattsburgh, New York and grew up in Abilene, Texas for his father's military job. He found his passion for history in middle school when he assigned to research an old building and write a proposal arguing that it should have a historic marker. As a child, he researched old shipwrecks.

After college, Taillon processed death claims for a funeral-insurance company. After saving his money, he moved to New York in 2010 and worked a corporate job at Ralph Lauren.

After he was furloughed during the Covid pandemic, he gained an Instagram following for narrating as he walked every street in Manhattan, a distance of around a thousand miles.[2]

He gives guided tours around different neighborhoods. He is hired by Fifth Avenue Association to write essays about the thoroughfare for the organization's bicentennial celebration in 2024.[1]
