[edit]The New Zealand Cricket Council had requested a tour by the Australian team en-route to the England for the 1909 Ashes tour. This requested was rejected the Australian cricket authorities and an offer was made to send an Australian Second Eleven to tour New Zealand. This request was rejected the Australian Board of Control and a tour by a second eleven (Rest of Australia) was offered. In turn, this offer was rejected by the New Zealand Cricket Council
