The 2016–17 Seattle SuperSonics season was Seattle's 44th season in the National Basketball Association (NBA), and their second apperance since 2008. Former GM Rick Sund took his place as general manager again. Also, former owner Howard Schultz became the owner of the SuperSonics again in his second term.
The SuperSonics finished with a 22–60 record, the second-all time worst record in franchise history and the worst mark in the Western Conference .
At the 2016 Draft the SuperSonics got the eighth overall pick behind the Dallas Mavericks . With their first round pick the SuperSonics selected Barry Dunnood from Baton Rouge and forward JaVale Uzhol in the second round.
