From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am a freelance writer, wife and mother of two. I have been writing poems, short stories and non-fiction for over 20 years. My work is to date, still my private collection of works, perhaps one day, it will be published, if I see where it would be a significant contribution to any particular niche or genre I have written in or about. I became an "anonymous" user of Wikipedia several years ago and had made some editing contributions, I was "trying it on to see if it fit", I find Wikipedia to be a valuable resource in many ways and had been the sounding board of a few friends who were attending Grad school that told me they were barred from using Wikipedia as valid source to cite. I found this to be unfair and quite frankly ridiculous! I wanted to make a contribution and help establish Wikipedia's credibility in that I believe, do to the stringent submission criteria, this domain should be allowed as a credible, citable, source by students attending colleges and universities.

That being said, my usage waned after discovering I was pregnant with my 2nd boy, a wonderful blessing when viewed from the proper perspective, before you judge me, it would only be fair to know the facts. You see, on March 6, 1997, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and shortly following the birth of my first son in December 2000, I had to make the decision to realize my life as I knew it was over. Following that pregnancy, I had a terrible exacerbation of MS symptoms and was in a wheelchair for some time, additionally, the physical symptoms were far less than the cognitive impact this disease has had on me. The impact on my cognitive ability was such that my career as a business office manager for a group of doctors had to come to an end, it was time to accept disability at age 30. My IQ and retained memory is unaffected but, and this is a but bigger than any but I know, my ability to process information, multi-task and learn new things had greatly diminished. I have been able to expand my abilities and learn some new things, number one, I had to pull my head out of my butt and discover that I am a woman with MS, not a victim to MS, it doesn't have me! So, the point of this rambling is to convey my "excuse" for not making any remarkable contributions to Wikipedia's database, thus blaming it on the birth of my second son in July, 2007. Now that he is almost three and I am feeling sane again, I have developed a user name, user profile and I fully intend to help Wikipedia maintain and hopefully develop an even stronger, more credible web presence.
