DESIGNyard new article content ... The Applied Arts Centre in Temple Bar (12 East Essex Street, Dublin 2, Ireland).
Opened on December 3rd 1993, the first applied arts centre in Ireland was a purposed build gallery over three floors, developed by Temple Bar Properties in Dublin, Ireland. The original DESIGNyard closed in 2004. The name was then bought and a new department added to the 'Whichcraft' gallery in Cow's Lane Temple and this business then moved to Nassau Street, Dublin 2 under the DESIGyard name.
DESIGNyard (1993-2004) Temple Bar was Ireland's first 'jewellery gallery'. Exhibiting work by Irish and international jewellery designers, it became well-known for its exciting and unique collections, solo and group exhibitions. Under the Directorship of Danae Kindness (1993-2001) it established a remarkable showcase of designer jewellery and later craftwork and a commissioning service.
