Corey O’Hara is founder of Via Gusta, which organizes travel programs to educate culinary enthusiasts and professionals about sustainably produced, traditional foods around the world. Via Gusta explores issues facing small farmers while helping the global food community to discover, meet, and support each other locally and worldwide.
Prior to this, as an Associate Director at the Clinton Global Initiative, Corey was responsible for strategy and knowledge building around Commitments to Action—projects undertaken by member organizations that respond to worldwide economic, environmental, and social challenges. His focus on more than 2,000 projects in 183 countries gave him a unique perspective on international development efforts in every sector and their interaction with public policy and global supply chains. While at CGI, Corey also developed a coordination framework for projects in Haiti, and in early 2010 he oversaw earthquake relief efforts.
Previously, Corey worked for Winrock International in Nepal on a variety of business development programs for small farmers, helping to develop a robust sustainable tea and coffee sector and integrating health and nutrition education projects into the USAID agriculture program. He also lived and worked in Italy, where he founded and ran a non-profit cultural association and wrote extensively about food and travel, contributing to more than twenty travel guides and publishing in the New York Times and Christian Science Monitor.
Corey received Masters degrees from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and The Friedman School of Nutrition at Tufts University and an AB from Harvard University.
