ConanBaltar is the Wikipedia online handle for Matthew K. Butler, a Louisiana political science student. Butler is a student at Louisiana State Univerisity concentrating on international relations within the political science curriculum. Butler possesses a wide range of knowledge within many different fields of study, including political science, world history, sociology, philosophy, and cinema.
Butler was once very involved as a student leader on the campus of LSU, having completed five semesters as a justice on University Court, three as associate justice and two as chief justice. Butler also helped pioneer a campus organization known as the Science and Religion Student Dialogue, which seeks to foster a coterie of students interested in building consensus and understanding between the scientific and religious communities of the Baton Rouge campus corridor.
Butler is a frequent consumer of jazz music, and he also enjoys classic rock. His favorite television programs include Lost, Battlestar Galactica, South Park, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. His favorite movies run the gamut from science fiction to absurdist comedy. Among them, he enjoys Blade Runner, Rushmore, Halloween, Young Frankenstein, and Star Wars.
Butler's interests with respect to the Wikipedia community cover a broad spectrum, including foreign countries, theories of political science and sociology, philosophy (more specifically, existentialism), popular culture, and other miscellaneous items. Butler's editing of Wikipedia articles is very selective, at best. Most of his edits tend to focus on grammatical errors, and he is always on the lookout for simpler, more streamlined ways of expressing a thought.
Butler is currently on hiatus from schooling, focusing instead on regaining clarity and direction for his future career.
